New Advisory Board Members

The Terry Foundation is proud to welcome the newest members to the Terry Scholar Alumni Advisory Board (TSAAB).

These new members were chosen through an application process hosted by the Advisory Board Selection Committee and began their three-year term at the beginning of February 2025.

The Terry Scholar Alumni Advisory Board is comprised of Alumni who have distinguished themselves in their service to the Foundation and to their fellow Terry Scholars. These individuals represent the Foundation at Terry functions, such as banquets and picnics, and participate in discussions about strengthening and supporting the Terry Community.

Sophia Chang (UTD 2006)

Sophia Q. Chang was born in Beijing, China, and moved to Kyoto, Japan, at the age of five. She relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area at age ten, where she completed her education before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Sophia began her career in pharmaceutical development and has advanced through key roles including Clinical Research Coordinator, Clinical Research Associate, Clinical Trial Manager, and Clinical Operations Manager. With broad experience across multiple therapeutic areas, she has been instrumental in the execution of numerous late-phase clinical trials.

Sophia currently resides in Frisco, Texas, with her husband Daniel, their two daughters, Ellen and Lauren, and their three cats—Chester, Chloe, and Autumn. In her free time, she enjoys attending performing arts events and exploring new hole-in-the-wall restaurants with family and friends.

As a dedicated Terry alumna, Sophia looks forward to conducting Terry interviews and is enthusiastic about serving on the Terry Scholar Alumni Advisory Board.

Fernando Cordova (UTSA 2019)

Fernando Luis Cordova graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Latin American Studies.

While at UTSA, he served the Terry Community for two years in roles including Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Director of Service, significantly impacting the San Antonio and UTSA communities. Upon graduation, Fernando chose to continue at UTSA as a Student Development Specialist, overseeing the Terry program at UTSA.

He is also the co-chair of the San Antonio Terry Scholar Alumni Association chapter and is completing his Master’s in Higher Education Administration this summer.

In his spare time, he enjoys exploring new corners of the city with his wife and spending time with friends.

Briana Dugan (TAMU 2002)

Briana Dugan currently works at College Station High School and Baylor Scott and White Emergency Room as a registered nurse. She is also a BLS instructor.

Briana graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA from Mays Business School and holds an International Certificate. During her time at TAMU, she studied abroad in Vienna, Austria.
She then graduated with her RN from Blinn College and BSN from the University of Texas Arlington.

Briana is married to Patrick. He is a College Station Firefighter. They have two children, Sean and Kate. They enjoy camping, sports, and traveling.

Nairi Garza-Gomez (UT-Austin 2018)

Nairi graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2022 with a BBA in Finance. Since graduating, she’s been involved with the DFW Terry Scholars Alumni Association, first as the UTD/UTA Student Liaison and later as the chapter’s treasurer for two years.

She currently works as a Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Additionally, Nairi serves as a professional partner at the HeadStart Fellowship, where she supports high-achieving undergraduate students break into finance and consulting careers.

Nairi currently lives in Dallas, TX and when she’s not working, she enjoys traveling, running, and skiing.

Jonathan Gonzalez (UTSA 2016)

Jonathan Gonzalez graduated from the University of Texas at San
Antonio with a major in Cybersecurity and Information Systems and a
minor in Digital Forensics in 2020.

During his collegiate career, he
pursued multiple internships within the realm of cybersecurity before obtaining a role as a Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) analyst
at Crowdstrike. He is now an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Cyber
Threat Intelligence at Synchrony Financial, where he builds
and tests cybersecurity defenses that defend against the current threat landscape.

Currently, he is a graduate student in Global Security Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys lifting weights, traveling, engaging with the Warhammer 40k universe, and reading military history.

Angela Rodriguez (TXST 2009)

Angela is a proud 2009 Texas State University Scholar. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing before pursuing a graduate degree in Science Education.

Over the past 11 years, she has dedicated herself to teaching high school science, first in San Antonio and now in the Rio Grande Valley, where she currently resides. Angela serves as an AP Physics and Biology teacher at the UTRGV Collegiate Campus, working closely with seniors to guide them through the college application, registration, and preparation process.

Passionate about building connections, Angela is excited to represent both Texas State University and the Rio Grande Valley Terry Alumni. She is committed to fostering a stronger, more engaged alumni community.

In her free time, Angela enjoys traveling and fishing with her husband, son, and dog. When not on the water or exploring a new trail, she’s an avid gardener and lifelong learner who finds joy in discovering new skills and hobbies.

Sarah Snapp (UH 2014)

A 2014 University of Houston Terry Scholar, Sarah graduated in 2019 from the University of Houston & Honors College with a degree in Liberal Studies with 3 minors. Sarah currently works as a Procurement Specialist for KBR’s Science & Space business unit, supporting the Human Health &Performance contract at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. While not an astronaut, she has had the pleasure of meeting a few!

Sarah is passionate about music, reading, and accumulating random knowledge. She can often be found competing in weekly trivia nights, attending choir rehearsals for the Bay Area Chorus, or cheering in the stands at UH or UT football games in the fall.

Sarah considers the Terry Foundation and Scholarship to be one of the greatest blessings in her life. The Foundation has provided her with numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as fostering some of her most cherished friendships.

She is excited to be part of this incredible community and looks forward to contributing as a new member of the Advisory Board.

Jason Thurlkill (UT 1997)

Jason Thurlkill is a communications and public affairs advisor to campaigns, companies, and coalitions. He has worked with the nation’s top political consulting and public relations firms, crafting winning messages for the world’s biggest brands and government leaders.

In addition to being a UT-Austin Terry, Jason received his Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

In his spare time, he writes, enjoys Longhorn football, and is active in civic groups.

Colleen Womack (UH 2015)

Colleen Womack is a proud 2015 Terry Transfer Scholar who earned a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. in Liberal Studies from the University of Houston.

Her professional journey has been shaped by a nontraditional path – starting as musician and music educator, discovering a passion for technology during her two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA, and transitioning into a career as a technology consultant.

Colleen now serves as a Senior Product Manager specializing in sales technology at Insperity, where she brings a unique blend of creativity and strategy to her work.

Outside of work, you can find Colleen volunteering, exploring independent coffee shops, or planning her next travel adventure. Having completed her goal of visiting all 50 U.S. states, she is now setting her sights on international destinations.

Colleen credits the Terry Foundation for the opportunities she has been blessed with and is passionate about giving back by representing the Terry Alumni community at various functions, reading Terry Scholarship applications, and mentoring Terry Scholars and alumni as they navigate their academic and career journeys.
