From March 24th to April 11th, the Terry Foundation interviewed 600 candidates and selected 295 new Terry Scholars from an extremely competitive pool at each nominating university. These promising students will enroll at 11 Texas public universities with a Terry Scholarship award that will cover up to the full cost of attendance for the 2025 – 2026 school year.
Terry Scholars are selected based on three criteria: academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, and financial need. Each candidate is interviewed by a panel of Terry Scholars, including alumni in various stages of their careers and Terry college seniors. Interview panelists collectively devoted over 3,500 hours to panelist training, reviewing applications, and participating one-day or two-day interview panels.
Since the Terry Foundation’s inception, every Terry Scholar has been selected after a 30-minute interview, a chance to tell their story and share how they would use the gift of a full-ride scholarship to achieve their goals and demonstrate their potential as leaders.
The Terry Foundation has invested more than $396 Million toward access to higher education since its inception and will award over $24.9 Million in funding to approximately 1,100 enrolled Terry Scholars during the 2025 – 2026 academic year.
The Terry Foundation Scholarship is a renewable last-dollar award and works alongside other scholarships and grants to cover the full cost of undergraduate attendance for up to 8 semesters. Terry Scholars also have the opportunity to receive a study abroad stipend and have access to a network of thousands of alumni in a variety of fields.
