Terry Scholars Fund Board of Directors Application

The Board of Directors seeks to fill ONE seat this year.

The new director will attend the annual virtual board meeting on December 8, 2026 and will officially take office January 1, 2027 for a three-year term.

Any candidate for a director position should be a graduate of the Terry Scholarship Program in good standing, having successfully completed our program at one of our affiliated universities.

Qualified candidates must be at least three years out of undergrad.

The Terry Scholars Fund Selection Committee will consider your passion for the Terry Mission as well as your involvement in Terry Foundation, Terry Scholars Fund, and Terry Scholar Alumni Association events since graduation. You will also have the opportunity to provide written statements about other ways you have given back and why you would like to serve on the Terry Scholars Fund Board.

Other Eligibility Requirements

No person is eligible to be a director if such person

(1) is a relative of any member of the Board of Directors,

(2) has been employed full-time as an administrator or in a teaching position at a university or college at which the Foundation provides scholarships within the past five years,

(3) has held office as an elected or appointed federal or state public official within the past year, or

(4) has attained, or will have attained before the beginning of the relevant term, the age of seventy-five (75) years.

Terry Scholars Fund Board Members have the following responsibilities.

1. Support the Terry Scholars Fund mission, values, goals, and policies.
2. Develop an annual giving plan and increase awareness of the TSF to raise funds for the support
   of Terry Foundation scholarships.
3. Attend and actively participate in TSF Board meetings (typically virtual)
   a. Jan/Feb – Discuss annual Development and Donor Stewardship Plan and initial plans and leadership strategy for Give Back Day.
   b. April/May – Review Give Back Day results and discuss plans for Legacy Day.
   c. July-Sept – Finalize plans and leadership strategy for Legacy Day, plan board recruitment, and review mid-year
   donations reports.
   d. November – Audit Committee (Review Conflict of Interest forms and determine need for
   financial audit.)
   e. December (1st week) – Annual meeting: elect officers, approve budget, review results of Legacy Day and year-to-date donations reports, vote on disbursement of funds.
4. Respect the confidentiality of all TSF communications, including committee and board meeting
   discussions and outreach to Terry alumni and TSF Donors.
5. Actively participate in Board Committees (Audit, Give Back Day, Legacy Day) and provide
   input/feedback to staff on communications and engagement strategy for planned Giving Days.
6. Regularly complete assigned Donor Stewardship tasks according to the annual Donor
   Stewardship Plan (i.e., donation acknowledgements via email, card, and phone call).
7. Vet impactfully large donations to ensure mission alignment and Terry Foundation budget
   impact before acceptance, with the support of the Terry Foundation Executive Committee.
8. Represent the TSF and the Terry Foundation in a positive and supportive manner at all times and in all places. Support Terry Foundation alumni activities and participate in TSF events such as Give Back Day and Legacy Day to the extent consistent with their schedule.
9. Serve one three-year term.
10.  Serve without compensation, though reimbursement is available for all costs of travel and other expenses associated with service.
