Terry Student Portal
The Terry Portal provides password-protected access to current Terry Scholars during their time on the Terry Scholarship. You will use the Terry Portal often during your time on the Terry Scholarship and beyond. It is important to maintain up-to-date contact information in your profile, because the Foundation will use this information to send news and updates during and after your time in college.
In many occasions, Scholars use the Terry Portal to communicate with the Foundation.
Requests for the following issues must be made in the TERRY PORTAL, not via email:
- Excused absence request
- Extended funding request
- Special funding request (study abroad, summer school, extended funding)
- Leave of absence request (deferrals, internships, co-ops)
- Appeal termination request
Mandatory Events
The Foundation hosts THREE mandatory events each year. Our intention is that Scholars will spend their time at these functions getting to know the Foundation’s Directors and staff, the Terry Scholar Alumni, and each other. Every current Terry Scholar is required to attend and participate in these events.
ORIENTATION
At the beginning of each academic year, the Foundation hosts an orientation event at each of the universities for all current and incoming Traditional and Transfer Scholars. Scholars receive valuable information about the Terry Scholarship program, strategies for student success, and the Terry Scholar student organization on their campus, in addition to meeting their Terry Campus Coordinator and their Scholar Relations contact from the Foundation.
FALL BANQUET
The Foundation also sponsors a formal dinner in the fall at each university. The dinner features presentations by upper class Scholars, representatives of the Terry Scholar Student Organization, and an invited guest speaker. Dress is business professional (coat and tie), but Scholars are not required or expected to purchase special clothes for this event. The dinner is preceded by a reception, during which time all Scholars are photographed individually for the Terry Annual. The banquet is an opportunity for Terry Scholars to meet and network with the Terry alumni, Directors, Foundation staff, and other Scholars.
SPRING PICNIC
In the late spring, all of the Scholars travel by bus from each university to a picnic where the accomplishments of the graduating seniors are recognized. Currently, there are five spring picnics: George Ranch (TAMU, UH), Central Texas (UT, UTSA, TXST), Southfork Ranch (UTD, UNT, TWU, UTA), Lubbock (TTU), and El Paso (UTEP). Terry Alumni, Board and Advisory Board Members, and University Partners will join current Scholars to celebrate the seniors. During the Terry Gold Pen Ceremony, graduates receive a gold pen from the Foundation and share their plans for the future.

Terry Scholar Student Organizations
Each Terry-affiliated university has a Terry Scholar Student Organization, which helps maintain a sense of community on campus and joins with the other Terry Student Organizations to strengthen the Terry Family across the state. Student leaders meet once per year to vote on a statewide service project and a statewide fundraiser to unite Terry Scholars across all 13 participating universities in Texas.
