Mr. Terry started The Terry Foundation because he wanted to help others the way he was helped. He wanted to do something personal with his fortune. The Terry Foundation is so much more than just a scholarship check in the mail. It was a personal investment and hope for a better future. And now, the Terry Scholars Fund offers all of us the opportunity to pay it forward in a way that is still personal and life-changing. It’s a way for us to honor our promise to Mr. Terry and give back. It’s a way to continue the perpetuity of The Terry Foundation and invest in Texas one Terry Scholar at a time.

Kaitlyn Block is a 2013 UT Dallas Terry Scholar from Houston, Texas. She is an experienced public health practitioner with a decade of experience in cancer prevention, healthcare administration, and cross-sector collaboration. Kaitlyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Studies (UT Dallas, 2017) and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy (Yale School of Public Health, 2019).
She has served as an interview panelist, attended spring picnics, has been a keynote speaker at fall banquet both virtually and at UT Dallas, and has served as an Alumni Advisory Board Member for the Terry Foundation. Her favorite “give back,” though, is participating in the annual review and response to Self-Evaluation Letters as it allows the opportunity to get to know and support Scholars throughout their college experience.
During her undergraduate career, Kaitlyn served as co-service chair and vice president of the UT Dallas Terry Scholars, co-founded a public health organization on campus, competed nationally in moot court, participated in the Archer Fellowship program in Washington, D.C. and interned abroad in Dublin, Ireland. Her favorite memory as a Terry Scholar was when UT Dallas hosted the Statewide Officer Retreat in 2016.
Kaitlyn currently works in cancer prevention and community health at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where she began her career in 2019. Outside of work, her passions include endurance sports such as triathlon and cycling, civic engagement, traveling, and mentoring.
Yvonne Rode Moody was named as the Foundation’s first Executive Director in August of 2012. She was named Foundation President in 2015. Originally, she was selected as one of the first 17 Terry Scholars as part of the inaugural class in 1987. She joined the Foundation Board of Directors in 2000, one of the first Alumni Scholars to be named to the Board.
A native of Fredericksburg, Yvonne received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M in 1991. Her professional experience includes working for Chevron as a Retail Construction Project Manager. Her volunteer interests include a variety of church, school and civic organizations, but her passion has always remained with the Terry Foundation and its growing number of Terry Scholars and Alumni.
Yvonne was married for 23 years to her late husband Ted Moody. Their two daughters both attended Texas A&M in College Station. She lives in Houston and is an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Scholarship Providers Association.
The creation of a new public charity to support the efforts of the Terry Foundation is an exciting opportunity! From the moment Terry Scholars accept the gift of a debt-free education, they are challenged to give back or “pay it forward.” For many years our Scholars and Alumni have given freely of their time and talent to support current students and impact the world around them. With the Terry Scholars Fund we have created an avenue to make it easier for our alumni and friends to invest in future Terry Scholars through financial giving. As the cost of higher education continues to rise, we hope the Terry Scholars Fund will enable us to help even more students in the future.

I am very excited about the creation and future of the Terry Scholars Fund. As a community, we are all encouraged to give back in ways that will ensure the success of the next generation of Terry Scholars. We can do that by supporting the mission of the Terry Foundation with our time, talent, and treasure. The Terry Scholars Fund provides a convenient option for our graduates and supporters to help meet the challenge of developing future leaders and address the reality of the rising cost of education. I will never forget the feeling of being awarded the gift of a debt free education through this full ride scholarship. The Terry Scholars Fund is a wonderful opportunity to help grant that feeling to someone else.
