How many spots are available?
The Advisory Board Selection Committee seeks to fill 8 spots this cycle. New members would serve from January 2025 to December 2027.
The Foundation recognizes that it is important to have an Advisory Board that reflects the diversity of the scholars it represents, including university attended, gender, ethnicity, age, and career path as well as life experiences. Each of these aspects ensures a wide range of perspectives and skills to provide better advice, drive innovative and creative solutions, and enhance decision making in the best interest of the Terry Scholar Community. The selection committee strives to ensure that it nominates applicants who will be active participants on the Advisory Board as well as representatives of our community’s diversity.
What is the time commitment?
Members of the Terry Scholar Alumni Advisory Board serve three year terms, with members rotating on and off in January each year. The Advisory Board meets three times (virtually) each year, with opportunities for committee activities in between. The meetings are one hour each, and time commitment for discussion committees varies per member but is generally no more than two to four hours per month.
What are the qualifications?
Traditional Terry Scholars must be at least three years out of undergrad; Transfer Scholars must be at least two years out of undergrad. The Advisory Board Selection Committee will consider your involvement in Terry Foundation and Terry Scholar Alumni Association events since graduation. You will also have the opportunity to provide written statements about other ways you have given back and why you would like to serve on the Advisory Board. See the Advisory Board Terms of Commitment for more detailed information.
How can I learn more?
The Advisory Board Selection Committee hosted information sessions to help interested candidates learn about participating on the Advisory Board and to provide opportunities to ask questions. A recording is available for those who could not join one of the live sessions.
