History of Give Back Day

Mr. Terry with local Terry Alumni and Houston Mayor, Annise Parker

Mr. and Mrs. Terry were honored for their philanthropy in a proclamation by the City of Houston on March 22, 2011. The city named this day “Nancy and Howard Terry Day.” Although it is a proclamation of a single city, this day is a reminder of the far-reaching impact that can be made by investing in education. March 22nd – Terry Give Back Day is a celebration of the many ways Terry Scholars give back to the world around them. Read the Terry Day Proclamation.

Help us reach our goal: 322 donations to the Terry Scholars Fund!

The Terry Scholars Fund is a public charity created to support the success of the Terry Foundation’s mission: to develop future leaders of Texas through access to education. The purpose of the Terry Scholars Fund is to provide an effective way for donors to support the Terry Scholarship Program, if they have chosen this method to honor their give back pledge.

Invest in future generations of Terry Scholars. 100% of every donation to the Terry Scholars Fund will go directly to Terry Scholarships.

Help us reach our goal of 322 donations during our 3/22 Giving Day honoring the impact of Howard and Nancy Terry. Every gift will count, and every dollar is important. Since the Terry Foundation covers the costs of administering the Terry Scholarship program, including all overhead and program costs, every dollar that is contributed to the Terry Scholars Fund will be used to directly fund Terry Scholarships.

Give Time

Help us reach our goal: 322 hours of service by the Terry Community!

Any Terry Scholar can submit service hours. Terry Scholars may count hours they contributed alone or as part of projects hosted by other groups or organizations. Scholars may also report hours contributed by non-Terry Scholars (family, friends, etc.) if they participated in a Terry-hosted activity or an activity that involved serving alongside a Terry Scholar.

Submissions will be shared on the Terry Foundation’s website and social media and on Terry Connect.
