Christen is humbled to contribute to our Terry community that is filled with diverse talent, immense dedication, and raw passion. In her new role as the Manager of Terry Scholar Engagement, Christen says, “I am most excited to cultivate meaningful relationships with extraordinary Terry Scholars and work to ensure all Terry Scholars benefit from our supportive community.”

About Christen
Christen Barron is a 2007 UH Terry Scholar from Rosenberg, Texas. As a first‐generation college student from a single parent home, receiving the Terry Foundation Scholarship afforded her access to countless opportunities that changed the trajectory of her future while also making a great impact on her family. Christen identifies with the shared experience of many Terry Scholars. The Terry Foundation Scholarship lifted a tremendous financial burden and empowered her with direct access to a valuable community of established Terry Scholars.
Christen received her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Nonprofit Management and later earned a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Houston. Christen has served as a Scholar Relations Manager at the Terry Foundation since 2015. After almost eight years of supporting current Terry Scholars, Christen looks forward to advancing opportunities for the Terry community to remain engaged and thrive as the Terry Foundation surpasses 35 years of awarding scholarships to deserving students.
During her time away from the Foundation, you can find Christen with her husband, Andre, in the backyard playing t‐ball with their sons, A.J. (4) and Kayden (2), and their adorably clumsy pup, Max. Christen is celebrating that she read nine books in 2022, learning to embrace that she will forever trip on toy dinosaurs that have taken over her home, and hoping for a life filled with the precious joys of good belly laughs.
